Postlaf 2012: € 16,000 for Caritas aid in East Africa
On the day of the 'Postlaf 2012' charity run, on 11 March, the 'Lafsektioun' of the P&T social committee and Caritas Luxembourg once again renewed their 'Sport and Solidarity' partnership as they have done since 2007. By making a donation, the participants supported Caritas Luxembourg's aid program in East Africa. This region is severely affected by the drought and a large part of the population is suffering from hunger and malnutrition.
As in 2011, a team of young people supported by Caritas took part in the 'Postlaf 2012'. Leading figures from the political, sporting and financial sectors also supported the 'Sport and Solidarity' initiative. A crèche for children aged between 2 and 8 was organised by the non-profit-making organisation 'Caritas Jeunes et Familles a.s.b.l.'.
On 25 June 2012, Mr Claude Strasser, CEO of P&T, presented a cheque for 16,000 euros to Mr Philippe Streff, General Secretary of Caritas Luxembourg, in the presence of members of the managerial staff of P&T and Caritas Luxembourg, and of the organising committee chaired by Mr Fabien Koser. Mr Strasser and Mr Streff took the opportunity to congratulate each other on the widespread success of the 'Postlaf' and the exemplary collaboration between P&T and Caritas.
Caritas would like to thank all donors and P&T for their generosity.
