The engagement

On 26 April the Grand Ducal court announced the engagement of Grand Duke heir apparent Guillaume to the Belgian Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy.
Prince Guillaume is the eldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. He was born on 11 November 1981 in Luxembourg. Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie de Luxembourg-Nassau has four brothers and sisters: Prince Félix (1984), Prince Louis (1986), Princess Alexandra (1991), and Prince Sébastien (1992).
Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy was born on 18 February 1984 in Ronse, a town located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. She is the youngest of eight children of Count Philippe de Lannoy and Countess Alix della Faille de Laverghem. The future spouse of the Grand Duke heir apparent has four brothers: Jehan (1966), Christian (1968), Amaury (1971), and Olivier (1974) and three sisters, Nathalie (1969), Gaëlle (1970), and Isabelle (1976).
The engagement of Prince Guillaume has been watched closely in Luxembourg. Indeed, Stéphanie de Lannoy will be the future Grand Duchess of Luxembourg and the mother of the next heir apparent to the Grand Ducal crown.
To commemorate the engagement, a special stamp and a block of photos of the young couple will be issued in September 2012.

 

The wedding will take place on 20th of October, 2012

The religious wedding ceremony of Prince Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy will be celebrated on 20 October 2012 at 11 o'clock at Luxembourg Cathedral.
Numerous well-known guests have been invited to take part in the festivities.
A special souvenir sheet of postage stamps, a first day cancellation as well as a special edition of Philatélux will be published on this occasion. Other details will be published in the special edition of Philatélux that we will be send to you.
