The basket maker is an artisan who deals mostly in baskets. Basketmaking is the art of braiding vegetable fibres to create a variety of articles.
The origin of basketmaking goes back to ancient Egypt.
Wicker is invaluable to the creation of various objects made by basket makers. The culture of wicker is thus essential to the practice of this trade. Tools are not necessary, the basket maker needs only his hands in order to work.
