Places of Culture

In the context of “Luxembourg and the Grand Region, European Capital of Culture 2007”, of which P&TLuxembourg is an exclusive partner, we pay hommage to those emblematic places of culture in Luxembourg which have not been featured on a stamp until now : the “MUDAM”(the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art), the Neumünster Abbey Meeting Centre, and the Rockhal.

Rockhal

The Rockhal, or Centre of Amplified Music, opened in September 2005 with a free and explosive concert by the group Prodigy. Located on the former industrial site of Esch-Belval, this Centre is one of the first buildings of the new city emerging from the vast lands dominated by abandoned blast furnaces of the former centre of the Luxembourg iron & steel industry. The Rockhal not only includes two modular concert halls, it also includes a resource center with rehearsal halls, a semi-professional recording studio, and musical archives in a multimedia area.
