The Müllerthal:hiking and extraordinary scenery

Situated between the valleys of the Sûre and the Black Ernz, near the German border, the region called Luxembourgish Little Switzerland or Müllerthal, is without doubt the most beautiful natural jewel in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

In fact, since prehistoric times, this grand region, an integral part of the German-Luxembourgish natural park, has attracted Man by its untamed beauty. What could be more natural than discovering on foot, while hiking, the neighbouring forests with a multitude of rocks in bizarre formations, grottos, and other hiding places, with colourful names such as zickzack, labyrinth, robbers’ grotto, wolf’s throatand even Devil’s bridge.

Our stamp depicts one of the best known, and most visited, curiosities in Mullerthal : the Schiessentuempel, a waterfall with 3 cascades and a picturesque stone bridge that crosses over it.
