Phishing
What is phishing?
Phishing is a scam involving an e-mail or a pop-up window on the Internet. The objective is to steal your credit card numbers, passwords, bank account numbers under false pretexts.
How does it work?
The swindlers send an electronic mail which resembles a message from a reputable company (bank, institution, global brand, etc.)
Everything seems normal: the message includes the company header, the sender seems to be valid and the website is identical to one you know. However, the message does not come from the company in question.
How can I protect myself?
- P&TLuxembourg never asks its customers to communicate their login and password. We advise you never to pass on sensitive personal information in an e-mail, instant messaging service or pop-up window.
- Stay vigilant and if in doubt, simply delete the contentious message.
- Make sure that the website uses a secure https connection.
- Check your bank and credit card statements on a regular basis.
