50 years of the Benelux Parliament
A consultative body made up of Belgian, Luxembourger, and Dutch parliamentarians, the Benelux Parliament was created on 5 November 1955. Its mission is to advise on the prevailing opinions in the different parliamentary assemblies, to provide advice on the evolution of the Benelux Union, and to promote domestic and international cooperation.
At the intra-Benelux level, cooperation is set up in the economic area, social and financial, and also targets police cooperation, unification of the law, and the solidification of the position of Benelux in the European Union. At the international level, the Benelux Parliament cooperates with supraregional and supranational organisations. It also cooperates with countries that wish to set up similar systems of cooperation.
