The Euro

P&TLuxembourg, an official partner of the euro and operator of a large network of sales counters in the Grand Duchy, will assume, together with the banks and businesses of Luxembour, a large part of the responsibility of putting the euro into circulation and of retiring national coins and banknotes.

With the goal of also ensuring as smooth a transition as possible to the common European currency as far as postage stamps are concerned, P&TLuxembourg has decided to publish the prices of its services in euros starting on 1 October 2001.

To be able to achieve all the frankings possible resulting from this new price list, a series of six postage stamps showing the designs of the principal euro coins (common designs ; 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent, 1 euro, and 2 euros) have been created. These stamps, which will have a franking value identical to the value of the coins that they show, will allow the public to become familiar with the new monetary units even before they are put into circulation at the end of December 2001.
