Arcelor, the world leader in steel was formed in 2002 as a joint venture of Aceralia (Spain), Arbed (Luxembourg) and Usinor (France).

The determination of the three groups to leverage their technical, industrial, and commercial synergies in support of a joint project created a world leader whose goal is to set a standard of excellence in the steel industry.

The Arcelor group, which had sales of 26.6 billion euros in 2002, plays a leading role in all its markets : automobiles, construction, household appliances, packing materials, and general industry.
