National Federation of Mutuality (1924-1999)

The industrial revolution, at a time when there was not yet any social security, provoked the establishment of mutual societies, the first of which date from the middle of the last century in our country. These societies obtained their legal status through the law of 11th July 1891.

The foundation of the National Federation of Mutuality was decided upon on the occasion of a general assembly of the societies of mutual aid organised on 6th July 1924 at the town hall in Luxembourg. Today, the federation comprises 57 societies with some 235,000 members.
