75 years of the National Tourist Office
This year, the ONT celebrates its 75th birthday. Together with other players in the tourism sector, it will create for the occasion a program of events that will highlight the tourist attractions of Luxembourg. Furthermore, the ONT will make available to local and international tourists its national information and reservation system on two Internet sites, www.visitluxembourg.lu and www.agendalux.lu, as well as on a group of interactive kiosks placed at the airport, the central train station, and highway rest areas.
A contest for future professional photographers will immortalise on film the most beautiful landscapes of the country. A retrospective of the activities and publications of the ONT, highlighted by a souvenir booklet, will close the festivities in March 2006. A particularly dynamic organisation, the ONT assures the promotion of a sector that represents nearly 6.5 % of the GNP, employs 13,000 people, and books nearly three million hotel rooms each year. Each year, the ONT writes and distributes more than two million tourist guides.
