P&T Luxembourg Art Collection II

Christiane Schmit

Christiane Schmit, who is also a member of the CAL, studied art in Lausanne and Strasbourg before becoming a teacher of art education. Since 1975 she has participated in many exhibitions. Her preferred technique is pure or gouached watercolour.

The artist is always inspired by nature and boundless plant life. Her abstract creations lead us to a highly poeticized reality of imaginary, dream-like landscapes with a rigorous structure. Occasionally, you imagine cascades or waterfalls, dense forests shrouded in mystery, or glades radiating light. It's all about a poetic universe corresponding to the artist's view of the world.

Her colours are also those of nature, especially those of the earth: browns, ochres, light yellows, delicate greens sometimes with light touches of black or white, with spots of light blue slipped in. All these shades are found together in pleasing harmony.
