Differdange

Centennial Towns

In 1907, Grand Duke Guillaume IV of Luxembourg elevated the areas of Differdange, Dudelange, Rumelange and Ettelbruck to the status of towns. This title was attributed to them by the « Loi du 4 août 1907 conférant la qualification de ville aux localités de Differdange, Dudelange, Ettelbruck et Rumelange » (Mémorial n°42 of 10 August 1907 p. 518 ). To commemorate this unusual centennial, four new postage stamps are being issued with views of the towns from a century ago and today, featuring emblematic places in the four towns.
