The integration of immigrants as seen by youths
The Office des Timbres issues each year new EUROPA postage stamps that relate to a theme set by “POSTEUROP”.
Between December 2005 and January 2006, the Entreprise des P&T organised a contest of MMS photographs entitled “U&us” (“you and us”) with a goal of selecting designs for the 2006 EUROPA stamps. Organised in collaboration with the Association de Soutien aux Travailleurs Immigrés (ASTI) and the Service National de la Jeunesse (SNJ), the contest was for youths from 12 to 26 years of age who were asked to send by MMS (multimedia messaging service) from their cellular phones, photos relating to the theme “Integration of immigrants as seen by youths”.
The activity was very successful and the vast majority of photos sent lead us to think that young people have a very positive vision of the integration of immigrants in our country. The “U&us” contest was won by Mlle Anne-Marie Simon and by Mlle Tamara Da Silva whose photos are now included on this series of EUROPA postage stamps. The two winners also received the latest iPod music player.
