Data protection for P&T customers

10.03.2009

P&T protects its customers' personal data.

In 2007-2008, the Commission Nationale pour la Protection des Données (CNPD - National Data Protection Commission) verified the conformity of data processing in the Telecommunications department of P&T (EPT) with regard to the legislation on the protection of personal data notably in the electronic communications sector (laws of 2 August 2002 and 30 May 2005 as amended).

The aim was to evaluate, with the help of an external expert, the level of security applied and to ensure that legal requirements were correctly implemented.

The verification project on the protection of personal data concluded that EPT pays a lot of attention to issues surrounding the protection of its customers' personal data.

The investigation carried out by the supervisory authority noted a high level of conformity in the processing of personal data by the EPT within the requirements of the legislation, which the EPT considers as natural in return for the trust placed in their services by the public in general and its numerous customers in particular. The final report pinpoints some recommendations for additional improvements to be put in place over the next few years.

The EPT will continue to focus on customer data protection in accordance with the relevant legal requirements.
