The President of the Chamber of Deputies visits P&T’s Sorting Centre
In the early evening of 18 July 2011, Laurent Mosar, President of the Chamber of Deputies visited P&T’s Sorting Centre in Bettembourg, together with Claude Frieseisen, Secretary-General of the Chamber.
The President was greeted by Marcel Gross, Managing Director of P&T, Paul Peckels, Director of the Post Division, Marc Rosenfeld, Director, and Roland Schiltz, Manager of the Sorting Centre.
The meeting between the President of the Chamber and the management of P&T focused on the liberalisation of postal services in Luxembourg with effect from 1 January 2013, the universal postal service and the gradual dematerialisation of post.
Laurent Mosar was also able to find out how the Sorting Centre operates – one of the most modern installations of this type in Europe – and talk to the members of staff.
Inaugurated in September 2006, P&T’s Sorting Centre with its 300 employees handles an average volume of around 800,000 mail items per day. The Sorting Centre also houses P&T’s Post Distribution Centre for the South Region.
