In 2002, the "Grande Boucle" begins in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: theCity of Luxembourg: the National Minister of Education, Professional Training, and Sports as well as the Luxembourg Federation of Cycling Sports will be partner with the Tour de France Society to plan for the Departure in Luxembourg. P&TLuxembourg is also associated with this extraordinary sporting event as a partner.
Three days of pre-race activities and three days of racing will make the Grand Duchy a very lively place for almost a week. From Wednesday 3 July to Monday 8 July 2002, Luxembourg will be the centre of the cycling world as it celebrates the start of the Tour de France.
The 0,45 € stamp shows, on a watercolour background, the official logo of the 2002 Departure in Luxembourg.
