The Post in 50 Years

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the issue of the first Luxembourg postage stamp in September 1852, P&TLuxembourg launched, in spring 2002, a design contest for young people between the ages of 8 and 23. They were invited to create stamp designs reflecting their ideas and visions of the Post in the year 2052 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the first Luxembourg stamp.

A Jury made up of specialists took on the task of choosing the 50 best works from the 2,400 designs submitted. The 50 selected works were shown at the "City Concorde" Commercial Centre and on the Internet pages of the philatelic service where, for 10 days, the public could vote for the best design.

The works of the two winners are being issued as "true" stamps on 19 October 2002.
