Following authorisation from the authorities, P&TLuxembourg is very pleased to announce that Ultra High Speed internet access will be available in the Grand Duchy in September 2011!

The architecture and the offer proposed by P&TLuxembourg are very innovative, and beneficial to end clients. The offer contributes greatly to increasing the attractiveness of Luxembourg and to fully moving into the era of the knowledge-based economy.

For some years now, P&TLuxembourg has been actively preparing to install fibre optics throughout the country. Many districts are thus already connected and prepared for the commercial launch. The commercial name for the Ultra High Speed connection will be "LuxFibre". It will give Luxembourg households internet access at record speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s for both downloading and sending information, which is much faster than current residential connections.

When the offer is launched in September 2011, around 85% of households will be able to connect at speeds of up to 30 Mbit/s and around 25% for speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s.

Under the government's strategic plan for Ultra High Speed networks, all Luxembourg households will have access at speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s by 2015. P&TLuxembourg currently has 550 persons working to achieve this aim. To install fibre optics throughout the country, P&TLuxembourg will have invested over half a billion euros in total.

LuxFibre will bring many benefits to P&TLuxembourg clients:
• A new internet experience at speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s;
• A myriad of high-definition TV channels available to Tële vun der Post clients;
• Fixed rates on communications and internet volume for INTEGRAL clients;
• Real-time applications, such as video;
• Gains in time and quality;
• New activities possible in the field of multimedia applications and e-business, and improvement of the quality of new services (e.g. video conferencing, e-health, home applications).

Prices and details of LuxFibre eligibility for each telephone number will be available when the commercial launch takes place.

In line with the government's strategic plan relating to Ultra High Speed networks, P&TLuxembourg has implemented the requisite measures to ensure that access networks are open to other operators. They can either hire products wholesale from P&T, or develop their own products using the fibre optic network installed by P&TLuxembourg as a basis.
