"Vote for the future stars of macommune.lu via the New Tële vun der Post"

SIGI offers new interactive services thanks to the New Tële vun der Post

For the "macommune on tour" project, the Syndicat Intercommunal de Gestion Informatique (SIGI) has made a new voting system available via the New Tële vun der Post.

You can vote for the "macommune on tour" casting via the interactive platform on your television. Since mid-July 2012, all subscribers to this television service have the option to participate in the main "macommune on tour" casting, by voting for their favourite candidate(s) via their remote control (see details attached).

To select the future stars of the 2013 macommune.lu advertising campaign, three options are now available to citizens: vote using the iPhone "macommune on tour" app; vote via mobile phone by sending an SMS with the number of their candidate or vote via the New Tële vun der Post on the macommune information channel.

The new interactive services from SIGI available via the New Tële vun der Post - one step beyond the macommune.lu citizens' portal.

SIGI is the first public administration to offer interactive services to citizens. The first step towards a participative democracy which directly involves citizens in the decision-making process in the community. For the "macommune on tour" casting, citizens can select the "faces" who will represent them in the 2013 macommune.lu information campaign.

The main casting, organised for "macommune on tour", has proved extremely successful since its launch at the start of summer. Over 1,000 people turned up for the casting. Isabelle, candidate number 215, is currently leading with more than 2,250 votes out of a total of 12,250 votes (Top 60).

Since the launch of the interactive vote, more than 1,000 votes have been registered via the New Tële vun der Post, in less than two weeks.

The "macommune on tour" bus has already passed through about forty communes.

Upcoming dates of the "macommune on tour" bus:

Remich Wednesday 15 August
Petange Saturday 8 September
Steinfort Saturday 15 September
Putscheid Sunday 16 September
Dudelange Thursday 20 September
Mersch et Betzdorf Sunday 23 September

It's really easy to vote:

Option 1: via the macommune information channel (channel 501 on the New Tële vun der Post) - just click on the button on your remote control to access the interactive service. Then, go to the "Application" section and select the macommune voting option. The application allows you to choose a particular commune and then view the candidates. The red button validates the vote for the candidate on the screen. You can cast one vote per day per candidate.

Option 2: go directly to the macommune interactive channel (channel 972 on the New Tële vun der Post). The voting procedure is exactly the same as in option 1.

About SIGIMEDIA

Since 2010, SIGI has offered to its member communes the option to broadcast videos or make live broadcasts, via their own "communal information channel", of cultural events or their municipal council meetings, on the Internet or on their smartphone ("ma commune on tour" iPhone app.). And that's just a taste of what's available. Similar to SIGI, different communes such as Pétange, Dudelange, Mamer and Mersch are already using this innovative media on a daily basis. Since mid-July, viewers have been able to keep up to date with the casting and the "macommune on tour" bus using SIGIMEDIA services via the New Tële vun der Post. The service is available on the following channels:

  • 501 macommune.lu InfoTV: continuous information channel
  • 972 macommune.lu Interactive: interactive channel with citizen participation
  • 973 macommune.lu VOD: high definition online video library.

About macommune.lu

Since its launch at the end of 2010, the "macommune.lu" citizens' portal has made various online services available to the Luxembourg population, accessible 24/7, such as consulting communal invoices, downloading administrative forms, etc.

To better inform citizens about the advantages and services of "macommune.lu", this year SIGI decided to go and meet citizens via the "macommune on tour" concept ‐ an information bus which visits numerous communes in Luxembourg. Hostesses and SIGI staff will be on the bus and available to answer any questions from the public about the communal services offered at macommune.lu. They will also motivate citizens to participate in the photo casting which will lead to the selection of the star of the 2013 macommune advertising campaign.

Citizens and the jury will vote to select the winners of the casting. Voting closes on 12 October 2012. The names of the winners will be published in October.
