The museum
The collections
The PostMusée has a remarkable collection of Luxembourg stamps, and many old photographs from its vast collection on Posts and Telecommunications are on view to visitors. The museum has also gathered an impressive number of old telephones and telecommunication devices over the years, some of which are exceedingly rare. A Morse telegraph set is kept in working order and museum staff is always happy to explain how it operates.
An original post office counter dating from 1912, an old stagecoach from 1880, many figures in postmen’s uniforms and a multitude of objects showing the postal life of yesteryear make for a most enjoyable visit to the PostMusée.
Nor are new techniques ignored: in a small multimedia room, interested visitors can see films and documents on the history of Posts and Telecommunications.
Visitors can also investigate the progress being made in switched telephony and see examples showing how manual and electromechanical switching technologies work.
