Celebration of the Centenary of Scouting
A joint issue of postage stamps planned by the European country members of PostEurop, the EUROPA stamps annually follow a common theme. The subject chosen for 2007 is the centenary of scouting.
In 1907 Lord Robert Baden-Powell of Gilwell organised the first scout camp for young people at Brownsea Island. Since then, the scouting movement has spread across the planet and includes today more than 28 million Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in 155 countries. In the Grand Duchy, some 7,200 girls and boys form part of the scout/guide movement.
The Groupement des Associations et Fédérations Scouts- Guides du Luxembourg, encompassing the associations AGGL (Association des Girl-Guides du Luxembourg), FNEL (Fédération Nationale des Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs du Luxembourg) and LGS (Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten), is the organiser of festivities in the Grand Duchy for the Centenary of Scouting.
Some of the special events are as follows : the great scoutism/guidism promotional exhibition, the Weekend at Kockelscheuer, the Model Camp (MOCCA) on the banks of the Pétrusse in the heart of the Town of Luxembourg, as well as the historical exhibition on the Luxembourg scout/guide movement at the Museum of History of the Town of Luxembourg.
The designs of the stamps for this issue come from a competition organised by the scout/guide community.

- Fabienne Barthel (fifth prize)
- et Corinne Kries (sixth prize).
