This year, the “Office des Timbres” publishes the second volume of « The Grand Pipe Organs of the Grand Duchy ».
This exclusive work includes in its first section four blocks-of-four stamps followed by a description of the organs. Presented in a double page, the stamps are accompanied by a brief description of the different musical works interpreted by the Luxembourg organist Paul Breisch and brought together on two CDs included in the book. The second CD is graced by the talents of artists Iveta Apkana and Maurice Clement and was recorded at the Luxembourg Philharmonie. In the second section of this exceptional collection, we also find an historic portrait of the organ from its beginnings until today.
This exceptional edition, a wonderful keepsake, is sold in a beautiful slipcase, which was designed to hold also the first volume of the organ book. The first volume of “The Grand Pipe Organs of the Grand Duchy” was published at the end of 2008 and is still available.
The two books comprise a complete panorama of the most beautiful organs of Luxembourg with 16 postage stamps (provided as blocks-of-four), descriptions of the organs, an historical portrait of the organ from its beginning until today, as well as four CDs with the musical works presented in the collection.
