The goshawk (Héngerdéif)

The goshawk is recognizable by its light gray lower abdomen and by the white or light gray band extending from the base of its beak to the crown of its head.

It feeds on other birds and various mammals, especially rabbits, squirrels, and mice. It prefers heavily wooded regions, but it can also live in bowery areas as long as there are some small wooded groves. In winter the young don't hesitate to explore and hunt seagulls and ducks at approaches to waterways where they congregate. A few do not hesitate to hunt domestic pigeons in the centre of town.
