'Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Tennis de Table'
On 15 October 1936, representatives of 6 table tennis clubs (Tennis Club Diddeléng, Ping Pong Lëtzebuerg, Le Progrès Mondorf, Sportclub Maccabi, Tennis a Ping-Pong Mondorf, Gréiwemaacher Ping-Pong) met at the Café Métropole at the Bourse to found the Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Ping Pong under the presidency of Frantz Think. After World War II, the number of clubs continued to grow, making the federation one of the biggest in the country.
Today, the Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Tennis de Table (FLTT) includes 93 clubs with 4,200 members and manages a welldeveloped system of competitions for individuals and teams and for all age categories. Luxembourg’s male table tennis players, but especially their female colleagues, have distinguished themselves on the international stage through exceptional performances, and table tennis has so far won 18 titles for “Best Team of the Year”.
Following the success in organising the European qualification tournament for the 2008 Olympic Games, the FLTT will repeat this event from 11 to 15 April 2012 for the upcoming Olympic Games in London.
