Fiftieth anniversary of the Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris, signed on 18 April 1951, established the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) between the Federal Republic of Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands. This Treaty was the direct result of the declaration of Robert Schuman of 9 May 1950 and the "Europe of 6" formed the embryo of the future European Union.
